Curriculum
More and more young people have either fallen behind with their education or do not attend; the struggle following the global pandemic has definitely made it a challenging time for our youngsters as well as families and whilst it is in our best interest to ensure that our learners eventually make that transition back into formal education for some of our learners this may not be the case.
With this in mind our educational packages are tailored to meet the needs and challenges some of our youngster’s face. Each young person will have an allocated Teacher or Mentor or sometimes both where necessary, our teacher’s and mentors are carefully selected and matched with a young person who we believe is suited for that child. Each session will incorporate practical elements to involve the student as well as build on his or her confidence self esteem and communication skills. Both our Teachers and Mentors do an excellent job at meeting the social & emotional needs of each student as well as providing the academic elements and promoting life skills for each learner.
Curriculum
Whilst our aim is to Educate each child and ensure they get a well-balanced curriculum that meets their needs this can not be done in isolation of the families and other external professionals who may work with the child too. Some of our young people may have a therapeutic input on their EHCP (Educational Health Care Plan) or by their Local Authority. We can offer further support through our specialist team that is tailored to have a positive impact on the child or young person’s holistic and social emotional development.
Our specialist team is made up of:
- Speech & Language Therapists
- Life Coaches
- Well-being Coaches
- Mentors
- Art Therapists
- Music Therapists

Process
- Once we receive the referral for a student from the Local Authority or other organisation we will then arrange a home visit to assess the student's home, assess the child and family & risk assess the area.
- Our Area Co-ordinator will then get the child's profile ready following the visit and based on any other plans the child may have. A students profile will cover, what they can do, what they find difficult, what works, what doesn’t work, how we can help, and what outcomes we are working for.
- Our Administrator & Area Co-ordinator then matches the student's profile with a suitable Teacher and/or Mentor this will be based upon the child needs and whether they are gaining any qualifications.
- Once the Teacher & or Mentor has been allocated the student’s file will be shared with them so they can begin to put together a session tailored for that specific child
- The parents and family are then informed of the child’s teacher or mentor, following this an introductory meeting is then set up via zoom so Teacher/Mentor can meet with the child and family.
- Teacher & Mentor will work together to continue to teach & mentor student. Usually sessions last 3 hours & can be up to 3 days or more a week depending upon the needs of the child. The session will be split across subjects and regular breaks will be included. During the first 2 sessions these may simply involve ice breaker tasks and getting to know the child.
- Teacher & Mentor will file daily ongoing reports on the progression of the child. After 6 Weeks a Review will be carried out usually via zoom where all parties can be present. This includes all teachers and mentors as well as the Area co-ordinator child and parent/carers.
